Animal Research Ethics Committee

The use of animal subjects for research, teaching or testing at the University of KwaZulu-Natal is subject to ethical clearance from the Animal Ethics Sub-Committee. Application for approval is to be made on the appropriate application forms below:

Animals used in the research and teaching must receive every consideration for their bodily comfort. They must be kindly treated and properly fed, and their surroundings must be maintained in the best possible sanitary condition. The guidelines below outline the manner in which animals used in research and teaching must be cared for and treated:
